We decided to get a new plant...an angel lily. I wanted something that would flower all year long but be basically easy to take care of and this fits the bill. We also found a cute pot with a peacock on it at Anthropologie (at a great price for heavy ceramic) to put it in. It makes the kitchen much more homey and the sunny window sill now has life-sustaining purpose!

New home for pencil case too!
Yes! I've been using the pencil case as a purse/card holder so it tends to move all around with me. The window sill is a "catch all"...on the left out of view is a big basket/holder that contains our mail.
